Spokane Workforce Council Announces CEO Mark Mattke’s Departure After Two Decades of Transformative Leadership

SPOKANE, WA – 12/10/2025 – The Spokane Workforce Council (SWC) today announced that Mark Mattke, its esteemed Chief Executive Officer, will be stepping down from his role after 20 years of dedicated service. Mattke’s departure marks the end of an era defined by unparalleled growth, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to workforce development in the Spokane region and beyond.

Under Mattke’s visionary leadership, the Spokane Workforce Council has flourished, earning national recognition as one of the leading local workforce development boards in the United States. His tenure has been characterized by a relentless pursuit of excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, deep customer focus, and the seamless integration of services, partners, and diverse funding sources. Mattke’s strategic acumen transformed the SWC into a model organization, widely lauded for its effective programs and significant impact on the economic vitality of the community.

The Spokane Workforce Council Board of Directors has contracted with Blair Search Partners to manage a comprehensive recruitment process to identify Mattke’s successor, ensuring a smooth transition to maintain the organization’s momentum and continued success. Jeanette Facer, SWC Division Director of Finance, has been appointed Interim CEO and will serve until the new CEO is on board.
