Our work depends on the leadership and wisdom of our business-led Board of Directors. Below find information about upcoming meetings of the Full Council and various board committees.

Our local workforce board is authorized under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 (WIOA). Our board is made up of local business leaders; key stakeholders from education, labor, economic development, government, and community-based organizations; the mayor of the City of Spokane; and one member of the board of Spokane County Commissioners. Click here to see a full list of members.

The Executive Committee serves as the board of directors for our non-profit and oversees the fiscal and administrative decisions of the organization. Chief Elected Officials, the board Chair and Vice Chair, organized labor, and the Chairs of the SOC, YCRN, and Policy committees all have seats on the executive committee.

(Stacia Taylor, chair)

This committee aids with planning, operations, and other issues related to providing services to young adults at the Next Generation Zone. It is chaired by a member of the SWC Board of Directors and includes a variety of other members representing local industry, community-based organizations and education programs that serve youth.

  • Services & Oversight Committee — (Chair, Robert Duron)
    The Services and Oversight works to connect the strategic planning of the SWC Board of Directors to the daily operations of the local WorkSource system. Responsibilities include evaluating system performance, making recommendations about contracts with service providers, and assisting staff with developing Requests for Proposal for program services.
  • Policy Committee — (Chair, Diana Wilhite)
    The purpose of the Policy Committee is to formulate and validate Council positions on key national, state, and local workforce development issues. The committee meets on an ad hoc basis dependent upon whether current legislative initiatives or other issues are pertinent to our work
